Who We Are:

Who: GCHSC is a collective body of concerned community citizens.

What: GCHSC is a multidisciplinary action team thinking through issues that impact the health and overall well being of childbearing age women, children, fathers and their families in Gadsden County.

When: GCHSC convenes quarterly. However, subcommittees may convene more frequently.

Where: Convenient location to be determined by GCHSC members.

Why: GCHSC members have an ongoing conversation about common objectives in health, education, business, faith, law enforcement, social services, and other areas are needed because all community members are impacted by the same issues.

How: GCHSC is a productive working team with a variety of subcommittees that focus on special topics of interest and priority to team members.

Impact: GCHSC members offer input to improve our way of life in the Gadsden County. Coalition members will determine potential strategies for inclusion in an action plan to address changes in policy, service delivery, and overall systems of operation and/or care for childbearing age women, children, fathers and their families.

gchsc committees:

Governance
Drafts and recommends Coalition bylaws and maintains these bylaws. Maintains the Board membership within the framework of related Florida Statutes, Coalition bylaws and procedures adopted by the organization. Develops amendments to the bylaws and makes recommendations to the Board regarding operational polices and procedures for the organization.

System of Care / Services
Explores the personal, social, environmental, and medical factors that contribute to adverse birth outcomes. Identifies protective factors for improved birth outcomes. Continually reviews the perinatal system of care. Makes recommendations to improve the system of care. Keeps the Board abreast of the concerns of organizations whose services directly impact the system of care.

Data Analysis / Evaluation
Collects, maintains, and disseminates data. Develops policies and procedures for disseminating data. Develops program evaluation tools, processes, and procedures. Directs community to sources of information. Completes other tasks as assigned by the Board.

Quality Assurance / Improvement
Develops and implements quality improvement plans. Organizes and facilitates quality assurance activities. Develops systems and procedures for outcome measurement. Ensures the Board’s fiduciary responsibility to the community is being honored. Ensures that Coalition reporting deadlines are met.

Community Action and Mobilization
Reports about maternal and child health issues that are present in the community. Raises community consciousness regarding maternal and child health issues. Demonstrates commitment through the development of workshops, forums, and seminars for which the community can become involved.

Marketing
Develops all marketing materials for the organization. Identifies and collaborates with vendors for website. Ensures events are published in local newspapers and publications. In conjunction with the Executive Director, approves all printed media.

Finance and Contracts
Provides direction for the Board regarding fiscal responsibility. Regularly reviews the organization’s revenues and expenditures, contract obligations, balance sheet, and other matters related to its continued solvency. Make and submit recommendations concerning the annual budget to the full Board for approval. Oversees the maintenance of organizational assets, including ensuring that organizational funds are spent appropriately. Ensures the preparation of an annual audit, including screening of the firm that will conduct the audit.
