95210 for Children

95210 is a simple health message for children and families, you will assist in painting the “whole picture of health” for them. By working to establish screen time, nutrition and physical activity guidelines and practices in early childcare settings, you will be working to prevent and reduce obesity, increase physical activity and improve nutrition.

 

95210 is a community-wide strategy for promoting child health and life-long healthy habits for everyone!  95210makes it easy to remember some of the most important steps families, community organizations and worksites can take to prevent childhood obesity and chronic diseases.

 

95210 Tenets

Five daily habits can help children and adults live healthier lives and sustain a healthy body weight

  • Get at least 9 hours of sleep
  • Eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables
  • Limit screen time to 2 hours or less
  • Get at least 1 hour of physical activity
  • Eliminate (0) sugary drinks and tobacco

 

How GCHSC works to promote the health of children from toddlers to teens:

  • We participate in local, state, or national initiatives that promote physical activity and healthy eating.
  • We provide education and awareness opportunities for parents through GCHSC events and other community programs.
  • We work to encourage healthy choices for snacks at community events and celebrations.
  • Involve and educate families in initiatives that promote physical activity and healthy eating through our Fresh Start Initiative.
  • Encourage communities to incorporate events including physical activity and education for families.
